St. John's has been a cornerstone of the Waterloo community for over a century rooted in faith, education, and generations of shared memories. Originally established in the early 1920s, the parish was founded to serve a growing Catholic population in the area, with the first church dedicated in 1924 and the school opening shortly after.

For decades, St. John's was more than just a building it was a place where families gathered, students learned, and lifelong connections were formed. The campus evolved over time, including expansions and the addition of a new school facility in 1963 to serve a growing community. As the needs of the community changed, St. John's eventually became part of a broader consolidation of parishes and schools in Waterloo.

The parish officially closed in 2002, and by 2005, the school buildings were no longer in use leaving behind a structure filled with history, but waiting for new purpose. Today, that purpose is being reimagined. St. John's Historic Village is a redevelopment rooted in respect for the past and vision for the future.

This transformation will breathe new life into the property creating a unique blend of residential living, community gathering space, and childcare services, all within the walls that have meant so much to so many. Our goal is simple: preserve the legacy, honor the memories, and create something meaningful for the next generation. This is more than a renovation. This is a revival built by the community, for the community.
